When you receive your kit, inspect it for any damage during shipping. If it appears to be in good condition, you're ready to start growing!
1. Start by washing your hands thoroughly and preparing a clean workspace.
2. Before making the cut, make sure that 75% of the grow bag is colonized with mycelium. This is important for successful fruiting. This means that the white, stringy substance (mycelium) has grown over 75% of the substrate (the brown material) in the bag.
3. Locate the area on the bag where you want to make your cut. It's recommended to make a cut that's about 1-2 inches wide and 0.5 inch deep. The middle of the bag is usually a good choice.
4. Water the area where you will make the cut using a spray bottle. This helps to keep the area moist and helps with the growth of the mushrooms. You can soak it 24 hrs in cold water if you'd like.
5. Mist the cut with a spray bottle three times per day to keep the humidity levels high. At thisinitial stage, before pinning forms, you want to make sure that the cut always stays wet.
6. Keep the grow kit in a warm, dark place, ideally between 65-75°F (18-24°C) and away from direct sunlight or drafts.
7. To increase humidity, you can also create a mini greenhouse effect by covering the bag with a clear plastic dome or placing it inside a larger plastic bag.
8. Over time, you'll start to see small pins (baby mushrooms) forming. Once the pins reach the size of a pencil eraser, you can start to mist the bag less frequently to prevent over-saturation.
9. Mushrooms need humidity to grow, so it's important to keep the environment inside the bag moist. You can achieve this by lightly misting the inside of the bag with water once or twice a day, or by placing a small bowl of water inside the bag.
10. To increase humidity, you can also create a mini greenhouse effect by covering the bag with a clear plastic dome or placing it inside a larger plastic bag.
11. Depending on the species, mushrooms can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks to fully mature. When they're ready, simply twist and pull the mushrooms off the block.
12. To get a second or third mushrooms flush even, make sure your kit stays properly hydrated. After your first mushroom flush, soak your kit in cold water for 24 hrs, then tape the original cut up with tape, and cut another hole on another side of the bag.
It's a good idea to do your own research on the specific species you're growing to optimize your growing conditions. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us - we're happy to help!

Meet Trinity and Jing, a young college couple who shared a passion for the natural world. They spent many hours studying the diverse and fascinating world of fungi, and they were particularly interested in the many benefits of mushrooms. One day, while browsing at a local farmer's market, they came across a mushroom grow kit, and it sparked an idea. They realized that many people may not have access to fresh, high-quality mushrooms, and they wanted to change that.
Trinity and Jing decided to start their own mushroom grow kit business, with the goal of making it easy for anyone to grow their own mushrooms at home. They spent countless hours researching different types of mushrooms and the best methods for growing them. They experimented with different growing mediums, spawn, and casing soils to find the perfect combination for each type of mushroom. They also studied the ideal conditions for each mushroom to thrive, such as temperature, humidity, and light requirements.
After months of hard work, Trinity and Jing finally developed their mushroom grow kits. They started small, selling their kits to fellow students and at local farmer's markets, but the response was overwhelmingly positive. Customers were amazed at the quality and yield of the mushrooms they grew at home.
Encouraged by the success, Trinity and Jing decided to expand their business. They set up a website, and eventually, they opened a small store in downtown Champaign, IL where they sell their mushroom grow kits and other mushroom-related products. They were determined to make mushroom cultivation accessible, fun and easy for everyone, and to share their passion for fungi with others.
